For this year’s Rock School Awards Show, Yeni created a multi-tiered New York / Broadway themed cake. This was a very big cake.
To paraphrase one of Fred’s favorite sayings… Friends help you move. Real friends help you move cake.
For this cake, our great friends at Keith Watson Events helped us with both lifting power and a truck large enough to transport the cake to the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on the University of Florida campus.
In keeping with this year’s theme (Broadway), the cake was designed to feature a New York look with edible buildings, LED lighting, Broadway signs, and cake to feed 400 guests.
Fred normally takes our photos, but for a cake of this size, we needed professional help from our friend Cindy Taylor of Cindy Taylor Photography. Cindy also took Yeni’s headshot on the about us page… but we digress…
We always try to personalize each cake with something truly meaningful to the client. We took several foundations of The Rock School and incorporated them onto the cake as Broadway signs.
Lights were integrated inside the buildings and around several of the signs. Using LED lights with battery packs allowed us to have the cake light up in an area where electricity might not be available.
Fred, Yeni, and Lindsay stayed with the cake as people arrived. Once seated they cut the cake and served 545 portions. Big cake. =)
We are always honored to create cakes to help celebrate life’s events. For this year’s Award Show we created a New York / Broadway themed cake for The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida.
